Who would you take off in order to put Jahmal Jones up there?

If he is a guard do you knock of Tamoy or Jayden? Neither IMO

Is he a forward? Which forward do you knock out of the 3 teams? None

It is difficult to put together these teams when talking about Peel because there are so many teams with solid players.

Post by stevelogan92 on Thu Mar 12, 2009 6:35 pm

    Agent 0 ,

I would take Chris Anderson over Manny because Chris does so much more for his team.

Chris is better on defence and is asked to guard the best 2-5 on the opposite team. Along with that he is relied on heavily to score baskets. Manny doesnt have to worry about that because if he is having a bad game ( like in the finals) there are 5 capable guys who can pick up the load. If Chris has a bad game that is a huge drop for a Mount Carmel team, who are not blessed with that fire power. He led MC to the semi finals where they were in the game until the final 4 minutes. Did any of you predict that at the start of the season? We all knew Dyouville would end up in the finals.

As for Bikram Gill, the reason I didnt put him on any teams was because he put up big numbers in the weakest Tier 1 division this year. I say that without knocking him as a player. Next year he will be a lock for 2nd team maybe even 1st team depending on who decides to return in Peel. He is no better than an honourable mention this year. Greg has the advantage over him because in the playoffs Greg dropped 26 or 29 on an Ascension player who more than likely was Gill.

Please don't take this an attack on your teams. This is just my personal opinion. What do you think?

I haven't seen many of MC's games, so I wouldn't know what he does or doesn't. Both great players nonetheless.

But I REALLY have to disagree when you say that the north is the weakest division. You have the peel champs, a young and athletic BCSS team with fire power, and you have Sandalwood who was a very dangerous squad before Alister went down with a knee injury and was sidelined for the season. All central has is Campion and Xavier (feel free to disagree). As far as even the South goes... Loyola and MC thats it really...Goetz picked it up at the end of the season really; Mississauga beat them by 20ish at a tournament final this year (cant remember the tournament)

As far as Greg goes I think you have him mixed up with Juwan Bescarin, he is the one that had the big game against Ascension in the quarters; ended up with 26/27. Greg didn't have more than 20, I don't believe. But again, both great talented players, not taking anything away from either of them.

Only argument really is saying that north is the weakest division, don't agree with you at all on that one.

    Agent 0,

The North this year was clearly the weakest division. I would say the South was the strongest division while the Central follows next.

    1. Outside of Dyouville and Notre Dame the 3 playoffs teams in the North were seeded at the lowest spot they could go.
    2. Two South teams were in the semi finals ( Loyola, Carmel)
3.The South division 6th team was awarded the wildcard
    4. The South had 3 quality teams, Central 2, North 1 and 1 mediocre ( Ascension)
5.MC beat both BCSS and Sandalwood in the latter part of the season with no difficulty. MC did lose to Notre Dame in there second game of the season by 4 without 3 starters due to football.
    6. Even though Mississauga beat Goetz at that tournament Goetz recieved the higher ranking in the playoffs.
7.Loyola beat Ascension in the playoffs.
    8. Xavier beat ND in an exhibition and in the play-offs

When you look at Peels top teams this year
D'Youville, Campion, Loyola, Carmel, Xavier, Goetz, Ascension, Mississauga
Outside of DY there is only one other North team in the top 8 Ascension and there 7th.

The facts show that the North was the weakest divison this year. Next year however Xavier and Ascension will be the top two contenders with Loyola lurking around.

FX loses 1 player from there 7 man rotation next year and reload with one of the best junior classes in Peel. Xavier adds what they lacked this year with their juniors coming up- SIZE. They also have a great Coach in Dave Tucci.

Ascension had a young team filled with Gr 11's who only gained valuable experience for next year. They might be the Top team in Peel and a Toip 10 team in the GTA for 09 -10. Ascension like FX is well coached.

Loyola loses Greg and Tamoy but have Nick and Juwan to bank on for the future. They will be looking to make it back to the semi's. I don't think they will reach any farther until Loyola coaches teach them how to play defence.

I have always respected Kamran Alvi as a player but after our game at OFSSAA, I have gained even greater respect.

He played through pain in the second half and had to leave the court several times but each time he went out he made his way back on to the court. He was either cramping or having hamstring problems I'm not sure but he showed a ton of courage.

Not only did he play but he contributed in a very big way to all that d'Youville was doing on the court. That to me that is a great player!

    Much respect, Kamran!! Cool
