hope the list improves. it will be good to see some of the teams from far out and how they stack up against the city. i did not see a junior coaches poll for this week. there were some good tournaments/games this past week. thoughts on these teams?

    Blessed Mother Teresa (Toronto Catholic)
they're ok. slow when you think they would be fast. second tier team.

    J. Clarke Richardson (Durham)
they have a solid scorer and a big man who can defend but they have been up and down all season. another second tier team.

    Cardinal Newman (Hamilton)
    ?

    Bill Crothers (York)
overall disappointing season as colts have faded from conversation. young pieces.

    Pearson (Toronto)
    ?

    St. Mary's (Kitchener)
heard they impressed at henry carr touranment. haven't heard much from them since.

    Notre Dame (Niagara Falls)
another tier 2 squad with only flashes of know-how.

    Sir John A. Macdonald (Waterloo)
    ?

    Catholic (London)
    ?

    St. Josephs (London)
    ?

    Beal (London)
    ?

    Massey (Windsor)
    ?

    St. Roch (Peel)
they've made improvements since the start of the season and have turned into a tier 2 competitor.

    Korah (Sault Ste Marie)
    ?

    Fellowes (Ottawa)
    ?

    St. Michael's (Toronto)
young solid backcourt has turned heads and masked lack of depth. a contender.

    Jean Vanier (Toronto Catholic)
thought they'd be better and could be. still waiting on a leader.

    Thornlea (York)
big difference between senior and junior programs. seniors are thriving, juniors are not.

    Emery (Toronto)
they have a couple of studs and good support but team work is flawed. arguable tier 1 team.

    Martingrove (Toronto)
wildly inconsistent and losing key juniors to senior squad hurt.

    Notre Dame (Durham)
they have threatened some of the top teams in the city this year. good size and defense. tier 1? tier 2?

    Brother Andre (York)
tier 3 team without a standout player. rattle easy.

Thanks for your input 'student athlete'. You made some great points. At the junior level, there are good/great teams all over the province. The games will be very competitive. For those teams that have junior eligible players playing senior, they are allowed to play with their junior programs for the JBC. It is entirely up to the coaches. There are also still some VERY good junior programs that are waiting on approval from their schools administration. The final teams will be listed shortly.

If this is so called the "OFSAA" of junior, where are the really good teams?
    Henry Carr
    MacNab
    Vaughn
    J.C Richardson

or even the top Peel Region teams
    D'Youville
    Campion
    Xavier
    Loyola

Those should be the 8 out of the 10 teams to appear when announced if you ask me!

Knowledge Hooper - There are a lot of really good teams in this tournament. Have you seen these confirmed teams play?

FYI - JC Richardson has confirmed that they will be in the tournament. We have also sent invitations to most of those other teams that you listed and are currently waiting for confirmation.

    Thanks again,

Hopefully the last 6 teams to commit are:

    Henry Carr (Toronto Catholic)
    St. Marg. d'Youville (Peel)
    Jean Vanier CHS (Richmond Hill)
    Sir Allen MacNab (Hamilton)
    Catholic Central (Windsor)
    St. Benedicts (Cambridge)

These 6 teams are easily in the top 10 in the province.

Any JBC that does not include these teams is just another invitational tournament.

How did Thornlea, Bill Crothers and Pearson even qualify for this tournament?? Neither of these teams belong. Thornlea and Bill Crothers are not even playing in the quarter-finals in York Sad Having these teams in the tournament field and without the teams above definitely takes away from the attempt of creating this JBC tournament championship.

I guess the coaches at Thornlea and Bill Crothers are just looking at this tournament as a way to continue to recruit. Beware COACHES!

Good luck to all players / teams involved. To coaches, hopefully your best players return to your school for next year as Thornlea and Bill Crothers coaches will be watching and poaching.

Hamilton Catholic: St Jean de Brefeuf
    Hamilton Public: Sir Allan MacNab
    Peel Region: St. Augustine
    Toronto Catholic: St Marys
    Toronto Public: Oakwood
    York Region: Vaughan

Still don't know who won Durham region
    .

According to the Junior Basketball Playoffs thread, those are the champions in their respective regions.  Why are so few of these teams participating in this so-called "Junior OFSAA"?

    Hi GTA_BBALL,

This is not "Junior OFSAA". It is the Junior Basketball Championships. This provincial championship is going to be fun and exciting for all the teams participating across the province. We were not able to get ALL of the Champions from each region for a number of reasons that were discussed between the schools and organizers of the championships. Still, we were able to get commitments from many 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. After this weekend we will have completed the 1st year for this tournament. Invitations and information will go out to all Regional Athletic Associations for next years event. That way, teams will have a years notice and be able to budget accordingly. This will be the Junior Championships for years to come. We are organizing this event because we feel it is needed. Please come out and support!

    Thanks,

    JBC
